A calendar page design for the 2001 Gathering convention starring its mascot, Holly, based on Marilyn Monroe. Here, my pencil realism and comic style come together. The gargified face of Marilyn portrayed on the movie screen was drawn mostly by memory, so I'm really shocked by how well it came out. Holly's outfit was designed to resemble a filming slate.
