Faith in the Fire

  Chapter 1: Hope

      A human girl, around the age of 11, tore through the forest with a Suicune puppy in her arms. "They won't get you. I won't let them," she whispered to it. A bullet flew above her head and animals hid as she ran through. Her name was Calikiruma Takashiya. But everybody called her Kiru. She was being chased by Pokemon Poachers who wanted this Suicune badly.

            Kiru escaped out of the woods and then darted through Goldenrod City. TR members chased after her once they spotted her running and Kiru was outnumbered. The Suicune puppy quivered in fear in Kiru's arms.

            Kiru started to scream as she entered the National Park. She did this everyday when she was playing, so nobody paid her any attention. Nobody saw the Poachers and TR members chasing her, not even the Park Ranger. Kiru exited the National Park and dashed up through the grassy road, entering Ecruteak. She stopped for a second to catch her breath and think.

            There was no Police Station or Officer Jenny in sight. Suddenly she noticed her ticket out, the path that led to Olivine City. Kiru collected all of her strength just as the TR members and Poachers came.

            She tore down the path wildly until she came to Olivine. The boat to Cianwood was just getting ready to ship off when Kiru jumped on the platform as it was going up. She was breathing heavily as everybody on the ship turned their attention towards her.

            The ship shoved off and the TR members threw their hats down in disgust. The Pokemon Poachers were spotted and arrested along with the TR members.

            One of the ship's passengers stopped and helped Kiru up. Kiru thanked them. The young passenger was a girl with dark black. She was taller than Kiru, for she was 13. "My name's Jadina Kazunamuri. You can call me Jade," she said. Kiru nodded. "I'm Calikiruma Takashiya. You can call me Kiru," she replied. Jade shook Kiru's hand. "You can stay with me and my older pals until we reach Cianwood. We've got room," Jade offered. Kiru nodded. She needed a place to stay. Kiru cradled the Suicune in her arms as she walked behind Jade.

            Jade opened the door and greeted her friends. Kiru felt okay with most of them except for a 16 year old boy named Natsumi Himura. The others were Christopher Ketchum, age 13, Ninatakira Goramilka, age 14, and Linolia Yukisakiyoo, age 15. Kiru greeted each of them and they all greeted her back.

             Linolia, or Lino as they called her, was curious about the Suicune in her arms. Chris and Nina were too, but Nat, who prefered being called Natsumi, didn't care. Kiru explained how she had obtained the Suicune puppy and how she had gotten to Olivine. The Suicune let out a cute, puppyish yawn and then closed its eyes sleepily. Jade smiled. "I think we'll all get along just fine."

            When the ship stopped at Cianwood, all of the passengers got off of the boat. Kiru waved good-bye to the new friends she had made and then walked off.

            The Suicune puppy opened up its eyes and blinked at Kiru. Kiru looked down at it. "Hello there. We're probably going to be together for a long time, so I guess I'll name you," she whispered to his as she brought it closer to her face. The Suicune puppy licked her. Kiru thought a moment. "I think I'll name you Riverwind," she said finally. The Suicune puppy barked to show her satisfaction. Kiru smiled and began to walk to the nearest Pokemon Center.

            Kiru had some new friends. She had escaped the horrible Team Rocket and saved a Suicune puppy. Now she had Riverwind the Suicune puppy to call her own. There was nothing more that she wanted in the world.

            Once she reached the Pokemon Center, Kiru got a place to stay as it was getting dark. She walked to her room, got in bed, and turned off the light. She soon fell asleep and began to dream, waiting for what new surprises the next day might bring for her and Riverwind.
